What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of adaptability, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to continuous learning. I began my career in the oil fields, but as my personal life evolved and I sought a better work-life balance for my family, I transitioned into the logistics field. This shift opened the door to new opportunities and challenges that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. Staying current in my industry through certifications has been instrumental in maintaining a competitive edge, while hands-on experience has given me the practical knowledge that formal education alone cannot provide. I believe that education demonstrates dedication, but real-world experience sharpens problem-solving skills and builds resilience. Being open to learning and evolving with the industry has been a key driver in my professional journey.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that in order to effectively lead others, you must first lead yourself. That begins with truly understanding who you are—your values, strengths, and areas for growth. Self-awareness is the foundation of strong leadership, and when you lead with authenticity and clarity, you create a positive influence that inspires those around you.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to embrace the challenges and unpredictability that come with it. This field is dynamic and constantly evolving—no two days are ever the same, which keeps the work exciting and engaging. If you enjoy problem-solving and being adaptable, you'll thrive here. At the same time, preparation is key. Stay informed, be proactive, and always be ready to learn. With the right mindset, this industry can offer a rewarding and empowering career path.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I faced when entering this industry was establishing myself as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field. Early on, it was difficult to have my voice heard, and even more challenging to gain the recognition and credibility my work deserved. Earning respect required not only perseverance but also consistently demonstrating my expertise and commitment. Over time, my experience and performance began to speak for themselves, helping to break down barriers and shift perceptions. While progress has been made, continuing to create space for diverse voices remains both a challenge and an important opportunity for growth within the industry.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and transparency are core values that guide both my professional and personal life. I believe they are essential for fostering open communication and building genuine, trust-based partnerships. I approach every interaction with the goal of creating mutual understanding and alignment. At heart, I am a diplomat—always seeking the "win-win" solution where all parties feel heard, respected, and benefit from the outcome. Whether in business or in life, I strive to cultivate collaboration and shared success.
